February 11th, 2008 by Igor Pankov

Gateway is a computer or device that connects one physical network to another network. Usually, gateways are used to share Internet access that’s available to one machine (this computer is called gateway PC) between other LAN computers. For example, a wireless router acts as gateway when it feeds the Internet signal to other client computes with wireless access.
